A New Year Begins

Every new year brings with it a sense that we have a fresh start in life.  Many of us begin January with high hopes and resolutions for change.  This is not necessarily a bad thing, although we are not always realistic in what we set out to accomplish, and often lose our enthusiasm and commitment as the days go by.  Whether it is losing weight, saving money, or reading more books – change can be difficult.

How many people begin the new year in search of a closer relationship with God.  Our belief (or lack of it) in God shapes so much of our lives and who we are – yet many people give little time or energy to discovering who God is and who they are called to be.

The Bible says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and God’s righteousness……”  (Matthew 6:33)  Why not make this year a year of intentionally seeking a closer relationship with God? Church is not the only place to draw closer to God, but it is certainly a good place to begin.
